【Abstract】
Jeonju International Sori Festival, Korea’s finest feast of world music, is held online this year in the wake of the COVID-19 outbreak. Each year, one of the highlights is its opening gala concert; the 2020 virtual edition includes international acts and a collective improvisation. Except Korea- the host country, Taiwan is the only Asian country in this musical extravaganza and is represented by the youth ensemble CUBA BAND. It’s an exciting opportunity for Taiwanese musicians to showcase their creative power combining traditional instruments with contemporary impromptu performances.
Being the recommended music group for the international cooperation between JISF and National Kaohsiung Center for the Arts (Weiwuying), CUBE BAND aims to infuse an innovative spirit into traditional music and explore further possibilities.
